El Zanco is a beautiful example of a Chris Craft on display at the Museum. She was built in 1962, is 18 foot long and powered by a V8 engine. The boat is on loan to the Museum by Mr R Taylor. Mr Taylor discovered the boat in a house in the South of France. The boat had been bought as new and was used only once before the owner had died. The boat was then left untouched for thirty five years in the garage of the house.
When Mr Taylor discovered the boat she was in a very sorry state. Two wet suits that were draped over the side had turned to jelly over the years and fell apart when touched. The inside was littered with the skeletal remains of rats and mice. The boat has now been lovingly restored by Peter Freebody. It is possibly one of the least used Chris Crafts in the world today! |
