Museum visits can provide children with a whole new learning experience. Contact with objects stimulates the imagination, challenges powers of observation and encourages the skills of deduction and analysis. However visiting a museum for the first time can be daunting particularly for young children. So in this section of the website you will find suggestions on how to prepare your class for their visit through discussion of what a museum is and with a series of games to help develop their observation skills. You can adapt the ideas to suit either KS1 or 2 and to the range and ability of pupils in your class.
